At Essential You Yoga, music isn’t background noise, it’s part of the healing.

From the moment you walk into the studio, you’re entering a space that’s been carefully curated to help your nervous system shift from stress to serenity. Music plays a big role in that.

We tend to avoid songs with distracting lyrics, and if you hear words at all, they’re likely sacred mantras or chants – phrases designed to quiet the mind, open the heart, and deepen presence. Sound carries vibration, and vibration affects how we feel, think, and breathe.

One of the reasons music is so powerful in yoga is because of its impact on the vagus nerve, the largest cranial nerve in the body. The vagus nerve regulates your parasympathetic nervous system – the one responsible for rest, digestion, recovery, and healing.
When you hear soothing, rhythmic sounds, your vagus nerve gets a signal that it’s safe to relax. Your heart rate slows. Your breath deepens. Your muscles release.

You come home to yourself.

Many of our students have told us the studio feels like a haven – a space they look forward to all week. That’s no accident. Every mat, every class, and every playlist is designed to support your journey toward balance and wholeness.

To extend that sense of ease into your everyday life, we’ve created a special playlist you can take with you. It’s called:

🎶 Sunshine n Yoga on Spotify
Think of it as your portable pause button – a sonic reset for summer.

Whether you’re on your mat or simply taking a mindful moment at home, let music be a bridge: from tension to trust, from effort to ease.
