This deep relaxation has a profound impact on the body. Studies have shown that restorative yoga can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, also known as the “rest and digest” system [2]. This system counteracts the effects of stress, lowering your heart rate, blood pressure, and cortisol levels (the stress hormone).
